In Bucharest, an important milestone for the REVHYDRO project was reached! IRCEM – The Institute for Research in Circular Economy and Environment "Ernest Lupan", alongside the Academy of Romanian Scientists (AOSR) and the National Institute for Research and Development in Electrical Engineering ICPE-CA, organized the highly engaging workshop "Hydropower, Circular Economy, and Energy Security", hosted at the ICPE-CA headquarters.
We extend our special thanks to President Doina Banciu and General Director Nicolaie Sergiu for their dedication, support, and excellent collaboration in organizing this event, which facilitated a substantial dialogue between research, industry, and decision-makers.
This event was a key step in our mission, funded by the European Commission through the Horizon Europe program. Our objective is to strengthen the strategic dialogue between research, industry, and authorities for the sustainable modernization of Romania's hydropower sector.
During the technical sessions, the IRCEM team, represented by Elena-Simina Lakatos and Andrea Loredana Rhazzali, presented the project's objectives, its current implementation status, and their crucial contribution to integrating circular economy principles, LCA/LCC assessments, and innovative solutions into the hydropower plant refurbishment process.
We were honored by the presence of Mr. Andrei Alexandru, President of the National Authority for Scientific Research (Ministry of Research, Innovation, and Digitalization), and Mr. Sebastian Burduja, former Minister of Energy and Member of the Romanian Parliament.
The debates were greatly enriched by the valuable contributions of Mr. Ovidiu Șuteu (Energy Management Department Manager, HIDROELECTRICA S.A.), Mr. Alin Iordache (Process Engineering Head of Office, HIDROELECTRICA S.A.), and the ICPE-CA specialists: Mihai Bădic, Gabriela Cîrciumaru, and Rareș Chihaia.
Thank you to all our partners and participants for your openness, professionalism, and the high quality of the dialogue!
